New ATMII-PMC protocol controller handles all 3G network signaling functions and cuts costs

March 9th, 2010 by admin No comments »

3GSM World Congress, Cannes, France, 18 February 2003: The new ATMII-PMC protocol controller from Adax, the industry leader in high performance communications and signaling infrastructure, has the capability to perform all 3G network signaling functions. Using the same board throughout the network allows 3G network designers to reduce costs as common interfaces (APIs) can be utilised to ease and speed application development, service deployment and also reduce support costs. In addition, the board’s high performance makes the applications more efficient, thereby lowering the hardware investment.

The ATMII-PMC adds the ability to provide AAL2 support for the Radio Network (RN) portion of 3G networks (RNC to Node B). When this is coupled with the current support for the Circuit Switched (CS) and Packet Switched (PS) networks, a full connection from the Core Network (CN) to the network edge (Node B) is available. Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) and Service Specific Coordination Function (SSCF) for broadband signaling, and SIGTRAN protocols for IP signaling are also included, so the ATMII controller is also able to send signaling and IP over AAL5 in 3G networks. With both AAL2 and AAL5 capability, the controller can be used in any node throughout the 3G network.

Being able to perform all the 3G network signaling tasks from the MSC to the Node B simplifies the parts list and by upgrading the software to meet all layer two requirements, Adax has helped speed development time and increase customers’ ability to integrate solutions ahead of the competition. Further advantages come from the protection of investment for customers; the same controller utilised for all nodes makes for easily scaleable solutions. Installing multiple ATM cards if needed means that fully scalable solutions are now a reality for T1/E1, OC3/STM-1, IMA and Ethernet/IP, assisting convergence both in the present and in the future.

โ€œTraditionally, Adax products have resided in the Core Network, extending out as far as the Radio Network Controller (RNC),โ€ commented Robin Kent, Director of European Operations, Adax. โ€œWith the combination of the new ATMII hardware for AAL2 and AAL5 and recent performance enhancements to the SSCOP/SSCF software, Adax now has the capability to sit right out to the basestations (Node B’s) at the network edge in 3G/UMTS networks.โ€

In addition to supporting AAL2 and AAL5, the ATMII-PMC supports Inverse Multiplexing for ATM (IMA), enabling the ATM cells to be split and sent between the RNC and Node B over existing T1/E1 lines. This avoids the expense of laying new fibre cables to the Node B’s, but at the same time enables the benefit of the higher bandwidth of broadband signaling. The OC3-155 Mbps bandwidth can be fully utilised for AAL5 and the board supports up to 45Mbps of AAL2, which is 672 AAL2 voice channels.

The PCI Mezzanine Controller (PMC) form factor allows easy integration to CompactPCI carrier boards and Single Board Computers (SBCs) to ensure full utilisation of slot space, providing maximum configuration options. Using an SBC with Ethernet ports, the ATMII-PMC can be configured as a broadband signaling gateway between IP networks and broadband 3G nodes. With the ability to install multiple ATM cards, a highly scalable, flexible and cost effective 3G solution is provided.

Tahoe Networks Accelerates Mobile Internet Ecosystem With The Appointment Of Steve Shivers To The Post Of Vice President Of Strategic Alliances

March 8th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Brings Extensive Experience In Forging Relationships With Application Developers And Major Wireless Carriers

TAMPERE, FINLAND AND SAN JOSE, CA, USA, MAY 14th, 2002 โ€” Tahoe Networks, Inc., the emerging leader of network infrastructure at the Mobile Internet EdgeTM (MIE), today announced that top industry veteran Steven Shivers has joined the company as vice president of strategic alliances. Shivers will be driving Tahoe Network’s development of strategic relationships with other leading technology companies. Tahoe Network’s solutions provide the foundation for wireless operators and application developers to roll out sophisticated data services, enabling the rapid integration of the software, systems and devices supporting mobile data networks. Shivers will report to VP of Marketing, Alan Cohen.

Prior to joining Tahoe Networks, Shivers was an executive at InfoSpace, Inc., a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services. As VP Wireless Services North America, then as Managing Director InfoSpace Europe, Shivers provided critical leadership for the development of the company’s Wireless Internet Services business. Central to Shivers’ responsibilities were managing and developing strategic customer and industry relationships with numerous wireless operators, software companies, and device manufacturers in Europe and North America.

โ€œSteve Shivers’ experience in managing and developing strategic relationships with the full spectrum of the wireless ecosystem will be instrumental as Tahoe Networks prepares for the launch of our product”, stated Anthony Alles, chief executive officer with Tahoe Networks. “Tahoe Networks is providing a critical network solution for operators and we are confident that Steve will help us fill out the critical linkages with other technology companies and partners to make our customers successful in building their mobile data services. Steve played a leadership role in introducing the prior generation of mobile data solutions and his experience will help Tahoe Networks accelerate this next wave of the Mobile Internet.โ€

Strong Track Record for Building the Mobile Internet

โ€œSteve has a strong track record of managing and developing strategic relationships that will further the adoption of the Tahoe Networks platform,โ€ said Arun Sarin, Partner at Accel-KKR. โ€œIt is a testament to the Tahoe Networks team, and the leadership they have already attained in this emerging space, to attract a world-class candidate like Shivers.โ€

Now as the industry goes through significant change, what is missing is not a killer application, but rather, a killer mobile data network that supports the rollout of thousands of innovative applications. Mobile networks are extremely complex and currently have a rapidly growing user base. As more and more devices are attached to these networks, launching new services and managing network reliability become increasingly difficult. To meet this challenge, Tahoe Networks has developed a platform, which will improve end user experience, ensure that carriers deliver reliable service, and offer operators the opportunity to increase revenue per user.

On his appointment, Shivers commented, โ€œTahoe Networks provides the critical solution to bridge the IP network to the mobile network to deliver innovative wireless data services. I look forward to working with the mobile data networking industry’s strongest management team to build upon my experience in the wireless industry and bringing our technology and this message to partners.โ€

Shivers holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and is a graduate of Rice University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Religious Studies.

Customer Service Enters the 21st Century

March 6th, 2010 by admin No comments »

How can you use Facebook and Twitter to substantially boost your business?

The extent to which Social Networking and Social Media websites are used is spiraling almost out of control. Hundreds of millions of people from all over the world are now logged on to these interactive websites. That’s a lot of potential customers, right?

There are still some very stern and astute marketers out there who believe you cannot make profit from the use of Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. I for one, am pretty pleased to be in competition with them.

With consummate ease you can find masses of people who are interested in the services you have to offer.

People buy from people.

It is so easy to interact with and meet new people.

‘People’ means ‘Customers’!

Establishing relationships with contacts on Twitter and Facebook is the equivalent of providing great customer service in your business place. The whole point in providing great customer service is to establish a relationship with the potential customer.

The first thing that crosses the mind of a customer in a purchasing situation is: “Do I want to do business with this person?” If the sales person is stroppy, has a bad manner, or has no time for the customer’s individual needs – then the answer will be a firm “No”.

By being polite, friendly, helpful and informative, the salesperson develops a relationship with the customer. They are more likely to want to do business with this person than they are with anybody else.

The same rule applies online. However, online, it is much, much easier.

Social Media is all based on relationships. There is no point in being on Facebook if you have nobody to interact with.

Social marketing is based on the relationship you have with your followers, prospects and customers. You cannot create a website and create a Twitter account and then expect for sales to shoot up. You have to work at it over a period of time – gaining followers and gaining trust.

People love to feel connected. It is part of human nature to feel like you want to be part of a group and have connections with like-minded people. Therefore most people will be responsive to your outreach of wanting to make a connection with them. Obviously you can’t just bombard them with “buy my product buy my product buy my product” – you have to work at building a relationship and building that level of trust.

Comment on what they are tweeting, help them when they ask questions and ask them plenty in return; let them know that you need their help and encouragement. Let them know that you trust them; this will make it an easier decision for them to trust you in return.

In addition to the theory that you cannot constantly be “throwing” your products in the faces of customers (”buy my product buy my product”), it is important to remember the one basic rule.

The number one rule:

People buy from people.

Do I want to do business with this person?

Relationship is key. You must build a relationship with customers first. And during. And after.

Generally, about 80% of your tweets, messages and interactions must be social. These are social networking sites after all. Don’t barrage potential customers with products. It will scare them away.

You need to show them that you are human. You are normal. You are just like them. You can help them. How? “Oh, I notice you need some help with your business… I think I may be able to help you there.”

Only 20% of your outgoings on social networking websites should be marketing based. It’s all about who you are, and not what you are offering. People go on these websites to connect and form relationships. Let them do this with you, and they will be much more likely to trust you when they have a business requirement.

As an extension to online relationships, Tweet Ups have formed all over the world, giving the chance for users of social networking websites to meet up and get to know each other in person. This forms a great opportunity to gain real trust with your contacts.

If you get a chance to attend a Tweet Up in your area, this is a perfect way to introduce yourself to the people you have been making friends with online.

People buy from people, remember.

Network Marketing Advertizing – The Best Ways

When one considers a home based business many of the opportunities that one will evaluate will be in the network marketing business. Although the network marketing business is a excellent way to find the additional income and a work from home solution many struggle when it comes to network marketing advertizing and finding qualified leads for their business. Unlike many years ago when most of your network marketing advertizing was strictly word of mouth to friend and family, these days there are better more efficient ways to market your network marketing opportunity.

What you are truly looking for is a person like yourself who is eager and desiring a change in their lives and is willing to go out and seek this change. To attract this type of person one can do their network marketing advertizing in an opportunity seekers magazine, possible the newspaper or other periodicals which attract the type of person you are seeking – the opportunity seeker lead. I’d have to say that the most efficient way of doing this is through the internet. When you use the internet to do you network marketing advertizing you are specifically looking for this opportunity seeker who is also interested in the network marketing industry. This way you are targeting specifically the person you are looking for and making the most of your efforts, in time and money in your network marketing advertizing campaign.

Now there are a few ways you can do this, some will cost more than other, some will take more time than others but as you get proficient in this and/or spend enough dollars, you will begin to develop a steady follow of your specific network marketing lead to feed your business and your downline so that you can have sustainable growth and create the passive income you desire.

One way to start your network marketing advertizing program on the internet is to use a keyword tool such as Google adwords tool, the Yahoo keyword tool or any other keyword tool that will assist you in finding the specific keywords, which network marketing opportunity seeker would be using when searching for a network marketing opportunity. You can then use these words in a number of ways. Firstly you can use them in a PPC campaign; these types of programs are the most costly but will provide you the quality lead that you are seeking. The downfall to this is that there is a learning curve and it does take sometime to get good at using the tool and the service. The other thing you can do with your keyword research is to write article and create videos and distribute them through the internet using Article Directory sites and video website. This may take more time but as you get good at this you will be able to rank on the first two pages of Google in the natural search, and this doesn’t coast you a dime and your content, along with your information and website will be display free of charge for an extended amount of time. Of course this is a simplified example of how to use technology wiht your network marketing advertizing but you need to realize that there will be a learning curve and you will need to find the tools and the resources to assist in growing your network marketing business. The better you get at your network marketing advertizing and the more resources you successful employ the more leads and the more success you will endure.

Business People Need Business Social Networking

March 3rd, 2010 by admin No comments »

Everyone in business today is time short. There is always more that we want to do, have planned to do, than what we can actually get to do. This is no excuse though for not doing any business social networking.

Some business people have decided that they won’t do any social networking for business because they see that as a “perk” of being in business for themselves and decide they don’t have the time ‘just yet’ to go gallivanting around enjoying themselves. However, what they fail to realise is that they will really get to “gallivant around” a lot faster and with more financial security if they take the time to do some social networking with like minded business people.

Business social activities are enjoyable because you will be among a wide variety of people who have the same interests as yourself. This always makes one feel comfortable immediately because you all automatically have a ‘common interest’ so conversation is not hard to start or join in. A quick hint here: just be sure to have a memorable ‘tag line’ to help introduce your business when you are asked. If it is memorable, humorous and / or gets an obvious question asked, your business will always be remembered. Just say your tag line naturally rather than making a ‘big deal’ out of it and if you aren’t comfortable doing this, then don’t do it. Many people don’t have one or forget to say it at the appropriate time but if you do have the personality to do it then now is the time!

Many of these social networking events are held to raise money for local charities or some special community event. Business people in any town around the world are large contributors or supporters of charitable events. Some of these networking groups are international organisations while others may be your local chamber of commerce or your city business group. Where ever there are a number of businesses you will find some type of local business group associated with the area.

If you were more interested in spreading your interests further, the international organisations like Rotary, Lions or Apex are excellent and fun social networks to join and usually consist of more variety of occupations than just a local business group. Some, like Rotary International, you will need to be invited to join but I know they are always seeking ‘more hands’ so if you wanted to join Rotary for a fun and useful time, then contact them either through phoning or making contact through email. You will be put in touch with your nearest local club and they will look after you from there.

I have never been in Lions or Apex, but I have spent the last four years in Rotary and they do an excellent job of sponsoring goodwill between other clubs in their districts and in their States and in their countries. They are truly a group who volunteer their services to assist those in need. And you will be volunteering with people who are active members in their local communities. Besides, they are a lot of fun and excellent organisations for business social networking.

Catching up with the PR Press Network

New services and established sites bring innovation to UK and global public relations industry.

Contact: Tracey Hopkin

PR Press Network, owner/operator

mailto:tracey@prpn.com

http://www.prpn.com

It’s been a busy six months for the PR Press Network, the UK’s newest provider of free tools and services for the public relations industry.

PR Press Network owner/operator Tracey Hopkin said there have been some real surprises and high points to date. โ€œAnd we’re looking forward to lots more later this year and into 2004,โ€ she added. โ€œWe are in talks with a number of key industry players and hope to be able to introduce more services before the end of this year. We’re keeping those under wraps for the time being, but we’re celebrating and shouting about the successes of our existing free services and plans for their development.โ€

Since it’s launch earlier this year, the PR Press Network has introduced no fewer than nine new services, including the UK PR jobs board prposts.com (http://www.prposts.com) and industry discussion group prtalk.com (http://www.prtalk.com).

Here Hopkin goes over some of the other events and launches so far.

ClickProfiles

http://www.clickprofiles.co.uk

ClickProfiles was made available to PR Press Network visitors at the beginning of July 2003 following its ’soft launch’. Like its sister service newsnext.com, it aims to act as a matchmaker between information professionals looking to promote business news and UK journalists looking for feature leads and story ideas. PR professionals post links to their clients’ company profiles along with short synopses, and journalists then search the database for relevant info.

โ€œVisitors will notice that the database is filling up nicely, and we’re seeing a lot of interest in our free โ€˜hosted company profile’ offer, that allows PR people to file text with us which is then placed on our site for journalists โ€” and search engines โ€” to find,โ€ said Hopkin.

ReachRadio

http://www.reachradio.co.uk

The PR Press Network received a remarkable response to its ReachRadio launch announcement. This new free service for broadcasters will put them in touch with PR professionals offering radio-friendly guests, content and prizes. Within a matter of days following the announcement, radio professionals not only from the UK, but also North America, Asia and the Middle East had caught wind of the service and registered their interest. The PR Press Network now plans to roll out a US service by the beginning of 2004 and hopes to quickly follow with a complementary service for Asia.

โ€œWe’ve got very high hopes for this one,โ€ said Hopkin. โ€œThe interest shown in ReachRadio has been tremendous and we’re not about to miss out on the opportunity to capitalise on this sooner rather than later.โ€

prmailbox.com

http://www.prmailbox.com

Word got around about prmailbox.com – a free web-based email service aimed at UK PR professionals โ€” even before it’s official launch and June saw a sudden flurry of interest from US-based PR pros. Their British counterparts have unknowingly staged something of a comeback and now there are far more subscribers based in the UK than on the other side of The Pond.

Meanwhile, the service has also seen its first subscribers based in mainland Europe and Asia! “We are delighted with the response – even though we’re aiming the service at Brits – and will continue accepting subscribers no matter where they are based,” said Hopkin.

newsnext.com

http://www.newsnext.com

Launched in February 2003, newsnext.com is a free service for journalists and publicity officers, allowing the former to spot up-and-coming news stories and the latter to provide information about events through an independent medium. newsnext.com concentrates on UK events and stories, although international writers and publicity departments are free to search and post to the calendar.

โ€œWe’re currently encouraging regular newsnext.com users to post quirky off-diary news leads,โ€ said Hopkin. โ€œIt’s the so-called โ€˜silly season’ in the UK and regional and national journalists will no doubt be looking for suitably strange tips and subjects.โ€

SimpleScout

http://www.simplescout.co.uk

Due to launch mid-to-late 2003, SimpleScout is designed to operate as simply as its name suggests – emails from photographers and filmmakers will be submitted to SimpleScout via an online form. These emails will be vetted to ensure they are genuine enquiries and then forwarded to for-profit and not-for-profit location agents on the SimpleScout email mailing list. Location agents can register their interest in SimpleScout at the web site, and photographers can sign up for the PR Press Network’s photographers mailing list to ensure they know when the service is launched.

โ€œEven though we can’t name names at this point, I would guess that we have a majority of the UK’s leading location scouts signed up to receive emails from filmmakers and photographers once the service goes live,โ€ explained Hopkin. โ€œThese professional scouts will no doubt service the commercial shoots in their usual, highly professional manner. And we are happy with the number of public relations and marketing professionals who have signed up and will be ready to meet non-commercial AND commercial requirements.โ€

[end

About the PR Press Network

The PR Press Network is a provider of free services to the UK media industry. Launched in May 2003, its first websites were newsnext.com, prposts.com and prfinder.com. The PR Press Network has more in the pipeline for the remainder of 2003 and into 2004.

More info about the sites can be found at http://www.prpn.com/sites.html

While the sites and services have a clear UK focus, international users are encouraged to use the sites and the PR Press Network has plans to offer its services to a more international audience by the end of 2003.

Advanced Continuity to Offer TeleContinuity’s Disaster-Proof, Survivable Backup Telecom Network to Customers of its Floodgate Notification Solution

March 1st, 2010 by admin No comments »

September 26, 2004 — Advanced Continuity, Inc. announced that it will begin offering TeleContinuity’s disaster-proof and survivable backup telecommunications network to customers of Advanced Continuity’s innovative Floodgateโ„ข Notification Solution.

โ€œWe are extremely pleased to partner with TeleContinuity to enhance our emergency notification solution and provide our customers with survivable telecommunications in the event of a disaster,โ€ said Advanced Continuity Vice President JJ Nathan. โ€œUsing the TeleContinuity Network will guarantee that our clients will be able to receive all notifications regardless of network outages.โ€

Floodgate is one of the most advanced, efficient, and easy-to-use emergency notification products. Floodgate offers emergency and non-emergency notification delivery to mass quantities of people. Within minutes it will instantaneously and continuously communicate voice and text messages to all standard message delivery devices until the message is received by the intended party. It can be activated by making a single toll-free call or by web-based methods. Floodgate uses include, but are not limited to the military, banking, municipalities, schools, emergency response teams, hospitals and corporations.

As a result of the agreement between Advanced Continuity and TeleContinuity, Floodgate customers can opt to have the TeleContinuity disaster-proof and survivable telecom network as a backup network for the Floodgate service in the event of a network outage.

TeleContinuity is the world’s first provider of a disaster-proof and survivable backup telecommunications network. Through TeleContinuity’s proprietary intelligent communications routing and switching technology and strategically located network operation centers, users can easily and quickly switch control of their telephone service or Floodgate service to TeleConinuity’s disaster-proof and survivable backup telecommunications network. Once this is done, customers can receive their phone calls or Floodgate notifications at any location they like over whatever device they choose, whether it is a fixed landline phone, cell phone, PDA or e-mail.

TeleContinuity’s solution makes this possible because it can sense open and available circuits on both the public switched telephone network and the Internet. It can, on-the-fly and without human intervention, create an operational network in real-time from an infinite variety of network routing options. Calls are moved back-and-forth between the Internet and public switched networks as many times and in as many combinations as necessary. Calls are then routed around a network outage to assure call completion from any location-to-any-location over any device.

How to Network Successfully Online

If you want to get your business name out there, nothing is
better than referrals and networking. Networking is the act of
passing someone’s name on to another person. But, in the new
world of technology, networking has taken on an entirely new
face. Since this form of self-promotion could mean make or break
for your freelancing career, I recommend you use some of the
following pointers.

1. Write Articles – Write articles about your expertise and
submit them to heavily trafficked web sites. Make sure that you
are referenced in these articles. Something like this works best:

Some web sites won’t let you have all of this information
written as a signature on the article, but they will let you
have a summarized version. If not, at least insist on your name
and website address being added to the article.

2. Become an Expert – There is a web site called All Experts
(http://www.allexperts.com/). That is a great place to network.
This site is a hub where people ask advice of experts. Take
advantage of this marketplace where others in your field can ask
advice of you. If these people are pleased with your expertise,
you might receive future gigs from them.

3. Message Boards and Chat Rooms – Message boards and chat rooms
attract individuals in need of advice. Take advantage of this.
Just make sure not to blatantly market your services. This might
infuriate people and you could get flamed or kicked out among
other things. The way to network in this situation is to be as
helpful and knowledgeable as you possibly can. If you are in a
graphic design message board and someone is baffled about to use
layers in Photoshop . explain the process. You could maybe
mention that you use Photoshop daily when running your design
business. THEN at the bottom of the page use a signature. Find
out about signatures in #4 below.

4. Signatures – Every email that you send out should contain a
signature. A signature is at the end of your emails and should
look something like this .

You never know will need your design services, why risk missing
out on a potential client?

5. Post Your Profiles – Yes, posting your profiles on the
freelance job sites is a perfect way to network. How else better
to get your name out in the freelance world than placing your
name on a freelance site?

6. Reciprocal Link – If you have a web site, ask for a
reciprocal link from others in your profession or similar
professions. For example, if you are a graphic designer, ask for
reciprocal links from fellow graphic designers, illustrators,
photographers, etc. I get more traffic to All Freelance from
reciprocal links than I do from search engines.

7. Introduce Yourself – Search and find other professional’s
websites and email them. Introduce yourself and your services to
them. Let them know that you are available for work if they ever
need to outsource. Ask questions. How long have you been
freelancing? Where do you find clients? What is your specialty?
Would they want extra work you have in the future? Etc.

8. Place your site in directories and search engines – It is
good to get your name out in searchable directories . this is
much more preferable than to search engines that don’t really
pick up any good matches. I recommend going to the following web
sites to get listed

*http://www.dmoz.org/ *http://www.looksmart.com/
*http://www.yahoo.com/
